 In BLA, News

A lot of Club members already recognised an energetic, always motivated and good mooded totally focused new baseball headcoach and youth trainer with the BSC Kufstein. With a little delay we want to introduce our new headcoach José Adrian Castillo Ojeda to our community. Therefore we interviewed our new Headcoach (Interviewer Klemens Adamer):

1. José, you are now already a few weeks in Kufstein and got some impressions and planned practises. What is your impression so far and how is it possible that one or the other club member  will recognise you from a few years ago? Tell us something about yourself and your baseball journey so far.

My  impression so far is very good. Kufstein is a very nice city, I feel really  confortable here.  This is my sixth time in Austia playing in the Austrian Baseball Leage, thats why I know some of the members of the team.

I am a venezuelan baseball player and coach that started my baseball journey in my hometown 32 years ago.  At age of 18 I signed a professionaly contract with the Boston Red Sox in the Dominican Summer Leage. Then, I played one year in the Colombian Baseball League, moving to Europe in 2003. During the past years, I have played in the Czech Republic, Switzeland, Belgium and here in Austria in different teams.

2. How did Covid19 and the actual pandemic crisis influence your traveling and your season plans?

The actual pandemic crisis influenced my seasons plans very bad because I had offers from other european baseball teams and I couldn’t sign with any of them because the Covid 19.

3. What is your resume after the first games you saw of the 2nd league team, the Landesliga team and the Youth? What is your main goal for the community?

My resume is that, in the few weeks I have been here,  the baseball teams, juniors and senior, have been gradually improving. At the end of the season, we will see the good results.

4. How do you see the through Covid changed Game Roster and what are special things which need to be kept in mind this season where you were not used to before and do you think it influences the games? (for example keeping distance between eachoter, no handshaking, etc.)

The baseball game itself has not chanched through the Covid 19. The only thing is that during the game, the players have to keep distance between them, the contact in the field and in the dogout is zero.

5. Where do you see the biggest need for development for the club and the younger players?

The biggest need in the team is the motivation. With motivation of all the players, everything else comes easily.

6. What is your favourite quote what you would like to tell young players?

Motivation and hard work is the key for success

7. What is your favourite german quote which you already know? (maybe “Bälle Bitte!”  ? :P)

Bälle Bitte! Schläger, Handschuh, laufen, lagsam, gemma, komm, schneller and the most important one: Ein Bier, bitte! 🙂

8. What is your goal for the season 2020 in the different fields of the club?

The most important thing for me is the improvement of all the youth teams and also I would like to motivate their parents to join all the activties that this baseball Club carries out.

9. Do you have any last words you would like to finish the interview with and tell the community? Thanks for your time and the interview!

I would like to thank the Club for giving me the opportunity to be here and help the team to gain motivation and make the players better every weak. I am available every time the players need me.
